I like the spelling found in Greensboro, NC (Susie, you live there). I think it'll catch on. Maybe people will start thinking school really is cool. Get it? Sh-cool. Ya, I know I'm lame.
I really don't think the guy that did this is stupid. I would probably make the same mistake arranging letters that are bigger than I am. Most of the time you would double-check the layout but sometimes, you're in such a hurry to get the job done, you forgot to check your work before sending it in. I sound like I'm talking about myself now because I am. Stupid mistakes happen every once and awhile because it's so simple, you don't even think to check work that you shouldn't get wrong. The only difference is, my spelling mistakes don't make national news.
